E Safety at Tithe Barn
E Safety
As part of our work on safeguarding and anti-bullying, we aim to help our children to understand the importance of being safe when using different communication technology such as the internet, Xbox online and social media networks.
We look at how to keep ourselves safe in the digital world and would strongly recommend that parents spend time viewing https://nationalonlinesafety.com/resources/platform-guides/ . This website provides excellent advice and activities for parents and children to work on together. In addition we recommend that you look at http://www.theparentzone.co.uk/ and www.thinkuknow.co.uk for further information.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection team (CEOP) is an ever increasingly important part of this work. In assemblies we flag up CEOP. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre is the organisation to report any suspected online criminal behaviour in order to safeguard children and families. Use this link to visit the page or report abuse http://ceop.police.uk/
The Family Online Safety Institute also produced FOSI – Go Figure 3 which gives an insight to the rapidly changing world of technology which our children are part of (it is already out of date).
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
To support children’s understanding on how help keep themselves safe in this difficult area of learning , in a variety of contexts, we use the special resources developed for year 5 and 6 children through the work of the charity Barnardos.
The charity has worked alongside the police and victims of child sexual exploitation to develop appropriate resources for children of primary age for the following areas.
- Developing healthy relationships
- Grooming
- Keeping safe
- Being online
